"Jerry Mercado is wanted for ESCAPE from Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield on 1/7/18," the wanted poster says.

At 3:15 p.m. Sunday, the prison was placed on lockdown after a prisoner was not accounted for during a routine facility count, state police said.
Mercado, who is from Hartford, is classified as a low-risk offender. He had one year left on his sentence for burglary.
Department of Correction Commissioner Scott Semple told the Hartford Courant that Mercado may have escaped by clinging to the bottom of a maintenance van or garbage truck.
Anyone with information on this escapee or who may know his whereabouts is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police, Central District Major Crime Squad, at 860-534-1000, the Department of Correction Parole Fugitive Unit at 860-250-2858, any Police Department at 911 or text TIP711 with the information to 274637.
